Things Aren’t Always As They Seem

I confess:

  • Sometimes the kids don't get a bath every week.
  • Yes I know it is gross and sometimes their hair will stand up all by itself.
  • Don't call me into the authorities. Please =)
  • Sometimes I only shower a couple of times a week.
  • I just got smart enough to take off the toilet paper before I get in.
  • The baby thinks that is the best thing to do while I shower.
  • You can only sacrifice so many rolls in the name of cleanliness.
  • My van is totally gross.
  • I did wash the outside today so people could stop telling I am gross.
  • Really you could live off the food on the floor.
  • Took a whole bag of garbage out of it once.
  • How do people keep their vans clean?
  • I gave up on the no eating in the car rule.
  • Too much trouble.
  • So I confess I am disgusting.
  • Go ahead and judge me and leave feeling better about yourself.
  • I am a giver!

Modern Torture

That is sooo not me. Anyone else out there really upset with what their body has become. I love these blessed children but is all the wear on me really necessary? Let's just be honest. I think I must be shaped weird. I might have the legs of a giraffe. I guess since I can't find jeans that cover my ankles. Or an inseam that is longer than an inch and a half. Does that really warrant the use of a zipper. So frustrated, just need a pair of jeans that don't make me look like a hooker. I also don't want to look like one of those people that think they should wear the same jeans as their twelve year old. Just nice cute jeans. GRRR. Nothing like a shopping trip to make you feel really bad about yourself.

On another torture note, my little one got an expanding retainer. They turn this key to make her arch in her mouth wider and make room for her teeth. She got one on the top and one on the bottom. It is not fun. She has been a crying mess since Friday. Refusing to eat or drink or talk. Just grunting and crying. Did I mention that the husband in not here. Nope he is off with work. If she isn't better by Monday I am having them take them out. I mean how long can they expect us both to deal with this torture??

Friday Confessional

I confess:
  • Yesterday I was super healthy
  • Breakfast was a banana smoothie.
  • I stole the banana out of my daughters lunch box.
  • I might have a pattern of taking food from kids.
  • I had a donut for lunch.
  • A cupcake and burrito for dinner.
  • I have a theory with cupcakes.
  • You have to eat them all at the same time.
  • Then they are gone and the temptation is over.
  • Who knew you could eat an entire cake at one sitting.
  • Cupcakes seem like so much less cake.
  • OK. I did share. It was little ones first birthday after all.
  • My kids all look totally different.
  • People are always asking if the are adopted.
  • Um, your business??
  • If they are calling me mom at the store and climbing all over me and not listening, do you really have to ask if they are all mine?? DO YOU REALLY???
  • I might be bitter.
  • Yes I think I am.
  • This might be a bi-weekly thing.
  • I have too many naughty things to share!!!

My new goal!

Therefore go, my son, and thou shalt be favored of the Lord, because thou hast not murmured.
1st Nephi 3:6

This is what Nephi was told when he and his brothers were commanded to do something hard.
His brothers complained and whined.
Sound like anyone that you know???
Nephi however said

I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandment unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.
1st Nephi 3:7

I think it is a true statement.
The Lord knows each of us and what we can handle.
Sometimes we don't know what we can handle.
I get overwhelmed and scared.
Then the whining starts.
And it just flows and flows.
I want to be the one that is favored for not whining.
Just being brave and faithful and getting it done.
Wish me luck!!

P.S. If you want a copy of this lovely book with all it's wonderful insights, just let me know!!

About You

So I have been checking out all my new friends blogs. I have to say that it feel a little bit like starting a book on the middle pages. I feel like wait a minute. I am confused. Doesn't take much! I want to know about you. I want to be able to understand your point of view more. I am going to introduce myself to all of you and I hope you will do the same on your blog so I can get to know you better.

I am Stacy. I have been gifted with four lovely children. Well, sometimes they are lovely and sometimes I want to poke my eyes out. I still love them. They are 7, 5, 3, 1. It gets really loud around here most days. I got my college degree in Sociology and yes I am analyzing everything you say. I have insomnia and I suffer from a panic disorder. I am sure they are related. I mean who can sleep when stressed and who can not be stressed when you don't sleep?? Most days I am sure that someone I love dearly is going to come to some tragic end. Doesn't ever happen, you would think I would learn.
My husband is wonderful but he is gone a ton of the time with work. I am lucky to have some good friends that help me out when I am all alone. When your kids are throwing up you have to have someone go to the store for you. Not sure anyone would enjoy a kid with a bucket in the grocery store.
I love to take pictures. Not of people but of things. I really hate taking people pictures. I am not joining that crusade. I like only having my own vision and expectations to deal with. Not sure when I will really get into it but one day when I am not hauling the whole crew around with me. I am here to tell you, they don't find nature as fun as me yet. And they tend to find trouble when I am the least bit distracted.
I like to sew. See I did not say love. I find it relaxing. My seam ripper and I know each other all too well. But I do like it and I think I am getting better at it. Time will tell. Maybe one day I can learn to follow a pattern. One day maybe!!!
What other juicy thing to tell? I love people. I love meeting new people with different experiences and points of view. I love when you don't think the same way as me. I love when we can respect each other and love each other anyway. I love hearing your story. So give it up. Share with me. I want to know what makes you YOU!

Old Fashioned and Lost

So here is the thing. I was raised in a southern area. You know like in the movies when men would stand or tip their hat at you. Yes, people, the men wear hats! Oh and opening the door!! How I miss that. I tell ya you can have 19 kids with 14 in strollers trying to get in the door and he will just be standing there waiting impatiently for you to get a move on it!! Ok, I feel better. Not even what I was going to talk about.
So #2 the lone boy in the land of girls takes out the garbage. This is his daily job. I am proud to say that most days he gets off because we recycle and our trash doesn't fill up that fast. One of those days he was doing it I thought to myself, hum, I think that is totally a boy job. I have never had my daughter take out the trash even though she is older. Am I alone here? Do you think some jobs are boy jobs and some are girl jobs? Keep your bras on. Not that either person can't do the others jobs, but if they are around aren't there things you just think they should do??
Another question that I have been milling over in my mind... Do you think you can do too much me stuff? I know that people say that to take care of others that you have to take care of yourself first. I think this is true. I really do, not that I am the best at practicing this principle but still. Lately I have been noticing that some mothers have been having such the need for me time and me things that they are really starting to think about me before the we. You know what I mean?? I think that when you decide to be a mom that you decide that you will come at the end of the list most days. I think that some times it gets to be your time and you get to enjoy things that you love. I just don't think that it is everyday and everything. I think it should be more about your kids and their needs and wants than your own. Am I alone and crazy??? Did that make any sense at all? Do I just need to get into gear or what?

Consumer Rant

Always Infinity

So my sister recommended these. She warned me that they were more than regular ones but soo worth it. Oh wait, WARNING!!!, this is a bit of a ladies post. Now that we got that taken care of, read on if you dare. So since having kids my ladies time has been unbelievable. Since my son I think I lose 4 months a year to that "time." Yes isn't that silly 12 weeks a year!! Who came up with that plan. Back to the point. So I stole some from her. Nope I did not ask, let's hope she doesn't read this. They were lovely. I went right out and got me some of my own. Hey, don't judge me, she steals stuff all the time! Ate all my cookies one day. Not sure pads are a fair trade. So if you want that monthly visitor to be a tiny bit less horrible go get some. I am totally a tampon person don't freak out on me. Remember that whole wanting to die thing?? Yep it just isn't enough, not if I want to make it to school drop off and back without being covered gotta use them both. That might be a bit traumatic for the little ones I think. OHHHH way too much information. But really try them they are great!

She has a story that you should read!

Friday Confessional

So my cutest friend does this on her blog and she issued an invite. So everyone join in. Do the linking thing on her blog and everyone will come visit you!! So many new friends!!

I confess....
  • I put both contacts in one eye this morning.
  • Then I got out a new one and put it in the empty eye.
  • Still can't see!!!
  • Oh I am dumb and really tired!!!
  • I do own "real" clothes.
  • Every time I wear them people feel the need to comment.
  • Must not wear them enough.
  • I don't own any makeup.
  • Not that I don't need it, I am lazy.
  • I am a super prude.
  • No PG-13 movies for me.
  • I know I am 12, love me or leave me baby.
  • Last one!!! I am a closet crafter.
  • I don't tell people so they don't ask me to do things, share time and talents um no!
  • Now I feel bad. I will help you. Blasted guilt.

How I love thee

So this should be about my wonderful husband that took fantastic care of me while I was sick. But no it is about my wonderful pots. I love you pots!! All you out there, get yourself some. Get rid of those gross teflon poison pans and get ya some great stainless steal pots. When you die don't expect me not to attend your funeral and rant about how you died from your pots. Yes even if you are 99 at the time, could have made it to 104.

I made the switch about a year ago. You think they are horrid to clean. Um NO!! I am not the best person at watching the stove and have been known to burn things on a regular basis. Couple minutes, brand new pots. Yes, that happened tonight! Yummy coconut chicken anyways.

So take the leap and treat yourself to something wonderful. Do it you will thank me later!!!

I am thinking of getting an esty shop set up. Any suggestions??? And another side health note. Don't get the Great Value potato chips!!! I almost did and they have twice the amount of saturated fat as the name brand ones. Yes half the price, twice the fat!!! Watch out.

Everyone knows this post is how my mind works, never stays one place very long.

Group of buddies

Do you ever wish you had a group?
You know people that are like you?
Have the same ideas?
About sick kids and such.
Winter makes me a hermit.
I hate it when people send sick kids over to play.
So I just hang out in my house....
I miss you world.
Three more month till we meet again.
